An orchid is strong, beautiful, and resilient. It has “the ability to grow anywhere and has the resistance power to bloom under any condition.”
Concrete Orchid is an online source of inspiration and support for the young women of color often labeled awkward, quirky, different, or weird. This space roots for badass women who make their individuality, love of self, and unique interests known to the world.
There’s so much beauty outside of the boundaries. We are perfect just the way we are.
About me: I’m a writer, editor, reporter, sometime photographer and videographer, sister, daughter, auntie, and friend. I’ve contributed articles to The Source, Ashoka’s Changemakers.com, eMusic, Okayplayer, and Entertainment Weekly. I love the art of storytelling and it’s my mission to provide celebratory platforms for the magnificent and courageous women of color who go unnoticed by the powers that be.
Media, women’s empowerment, and music are my calling. I also journal, travel, read until my eyes get sore, and will easily destroy a batch of fudge brownies. You can find some of my work at AndreaBoston.com.
