Storytelling is such a powerful form of communication.

This summer, I joined Toastmasters International to improve my public speaking skills. (I’m an expert wallflower and a nervous wreck whenever I’m in front of a crowd.) I came across this video and storytelling project today and had to share. Ronica Reddick really did an expert job retelling her horrifying yet triumphant tale. She was entertaining, engaging, present. Her story was well-organized from start to finish. She was funny, used her body, varied her tone, and had smooth transitions between her thoughts.

Right now, my mind is wrapped around the upcoming story project and this is a perfect example of how to tell a story–no matter which medium you choose.

If you’re in New York, check out Barbershop Stories. I’ll definitely be in the audience at the next show.
