On March 12, 2011, the New York-based Gye Nyame Empowerment Project will gather 125 young women in Brooklyn to encourage “self-awareness, self-appreciation, and self-actualization.” Through this year’s theme, “Unraveling Stories, Creating New Possibilities,” each high school student will learn to unravel and triumph over the events in their lives which may be holding them back from knowing their greatness. Sista-2-Sista’s organizers have arranged workshops, panel discussions, and live entertainment to help improve the lives of a generation of young women, and they need your help! Check out their cool video and get inspired…

According to the program’s founder, Akua Soadwa:

In the past, we have always been able to count on donations from our loved ones and supporters and we are asking again for your support.

We are also looking for in-kind donations (copies, etc.) so if this is more in line with what you (or someone you know) can offer, please let me know! To donate visit: www.EmpowerMeGNEP.org/donate.
