I’m pretty worn out with the whole Hair conversation, but I adore seeing blogs dedicated to stylish young women rockin’ and accessorizing their natural beauty. LeCoil has previously been my go-to site for colorful photos of gorgeous, natural men and women, but my girls Sydney and Katrina put me on to Fuck Yeah Curls Curls Curls. They forwarded me the site’s link last night, and I probably spent about 2 hours scanning over the pages and pages of curls. Some pictures are amateur, some professional, but they’re all unique. It’s funny for me to see blogs like Fuck Yeah Curls Curls Curls, because I was NOT considered cool back when I decided to stop hiding behind a bi-weekly press-n-curl, and start wearing my curly ‘fro. There were no special products for my kind of hair. My only options were white girl mousses, and heavy creams and greases designed mostly for locks. I struggled, I experimented, and then one day while browsing through the campus bookstore, I came across an article in the now-defunct Suede magazine. It was a small feature on the owners of Curve Salon/Miss Jessie’s, and their philosophy on “shaping” and styling curly/kinky hair. I saved my money, made an appointment, and got on a bus from Philly to Brooklyn for a haircut. The rest is history…

Here are a couple of my favorite Fuck Yeah curly girls:

And, of course, ME!
