Not many things compare to the feeling of accomplishment. Seeing an idea from concept to completion. A few weeks ago, I sent one of my best friends a link to the Take Back the Mic music video competition on Huffington Post (which I also posted here). At my friend’s encouragement, the two of us hit the city armed with a camera and a rough vision. We spent two days filming subway artists in New York City, and edited the footage over the course of a week or two.

The judges reveal the contest results this Friday, but the most exciting part of this experience has been the practice, the small challenges, and the overall feedback. I’m slowly learning camera techniques, and my friend is an excellent editor in the making. The chance to collaborate with her, fumble along together, and create something that turned out pretty damned good, is so inspiring. Putting one foot in front of the other…
